The chase began in Ventura County when the suspect, driving an older model black Mercedes-Benz, failed to yield to officers who tried to pull him over for speeding and reckless driving in Faria Beach shortly before 8 a.m.
The suspect sped along the southbound 101 Freeway trough Ventura County and into the San Fernando Valley, weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds.
The driver finally pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway near Gower Street at about 9 a.m. He exited the vehicle as officers, with weapons drawn, ordered him to the ground. He was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. A female passenger was also taken into custody.
