Occupy LA sues city, claiming violated rights

LOS ANGELES

The alleged violations stem from the massive overnight raid to clear demonstrators from an encampment at City Hall.

The class-action suit claims local officials violated the rights of peaceful protestors and bystanders.

The complaint also detailed injuries allegedly suffered by protesters during and after the arrests of more than 200 people.

The demonstrators were part of a nationwide anti-Wall Street social movement. For Los Angeles, extra law enforcement, restoration of damaged property and other city expenses cost taxpayers more than $4 million.
