4.0-magnitude quake hits San Diego County desert

BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif.

The quake struck at 1:37 p.m. PT and was centered 12 miles southwest of Ocotillo Wells, 19 miles southeast of Borrego Springs and 54 miles northeast of San Diego, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake initially clocked in at 3.9 but was upgraded a short time later.
