Low-speed pursuit shuts Long Beach Airport

LONG BEACH, Calif.

Police blocked the entrance and exit to the airport, and used a stun gun to take the suspect into custody after a strange pursuit.

The pursuit started around 9 p.m. in the area of the 700 block of East Shoreline Drive in Long Beach. The suspect never drove fast, but when he finally stopped, it was right in front of the airport terminal.

He got out of his car and appeared to be agitated, even tearing off his shirt. That's when officers moved in and used a Taser on him. He dropped to the pavement and was quickly taken into custody.

There was no one else in the vehicle. The airport entrance was reopened to traffic shortly after the incident.
