West LA deputy-involved shooting leaves transient dead

WEST LOS ANGELES

The shooting took place at the intersection of Cadillac Avenue and Venice Boulevard around 3:45 p.m. Authorities say deputies from Transit Services Bureau came into contact with a man believed to be a transient.

The man allegedly armed himself with a wooden stick and advanced toward deputies. At least one deputy opened fire.

The unidentified suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The shooting remains under investigation.
