LAX shooting: Suspect Paul Ciancia released from hospital

LOS ANGELES

Ciancia left Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Monday, hospital officials said. He is now in federal custody, a law enforcement official said. Ciancia was hospitalized Nov. 1 after being shot by airport police.

So far, a court appearance for Ciancia has not been scheduled.

TSA officer Gerardo Hernandez, 39, was killed in the shooting. TSA agents James Speer, 54, Tony Grigsby, 36 and Calabasas High School teacher Brian Ludmer, 29, were injured.

Ciancia has been charged with murder of a federal officer and commission of violence at an international airport.

If convicted, Ciancia could face the death penalty.
