SAN FRANCISCO

According to the consulate, surveillance video shows someone splashing gasoline onto the front door of the main entrance Wednesday night and setting it on fire.

Fire crews arrived on scene around 9:30 p.m. and doused the flames in minutes. No one was hurt.

In a statement, the consulate is calling this "a sabotage of a vile nature."

The fire caused "serious damage to the facilities of the consulate and endangered the safety of the consulate officials and the citizens living nearby. We express strong condemnation," the statement continued.
