Operation Crossover targets gang of liquor thieves

SEAL BEACH, Calif.

Seal Beach Police and 14 other law enforcement agencies conducted "Operation Crossover" targeting members of the Long Beach Insane Crip Gang. Nearly 100 crimes were committed across five counties, according to the department.

The suspects allegedly targeted grocery stores for alcohol.

The Orange County Sheriff's and Seal Beach Police departments found they were focusing on the same gang several months ago, which led to the sting. About 50 burglaries were committed in Orange County.

The crimes were also committed in cities including Long Beach, Torrance and El Segundo.

About $5,000 in alcohol was stolen in each of the burglaries. Police said safes were also stolen from restaurants.
