Authorities responded to a welfare call at a residence in the 28200 block of Winged Foot Drive at 9:27 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man in the garage of the house.
Police said the officers "made announcements offering assistance," but the suspect did not comply, instead pointing a handgun at officers. An officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was declared dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
