COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A man and a woman were caught on surveillance video robbing a gas station in Compton at gunpoint on Tuesday.
The robbery happened at the Arco ampm on 2820 East Alondra Blvd. at about 3:05 a.m.
Video showed a man with a gun and a woman carrying a bag enter the gas station.
The male suspect was seen in the video immediately walking up to the worker and pointing the gun in his face as the woman went behind the counter and began to shove items into the bag.
Video showed the worker being led at gunpoint to the cash registers and told to open them.
During the robbery, another employee walked out from a backroom, but kept his distance once he realized the situation.
The male suspect could be heard saying, "Hurry up before I shoot you."
At one point a customer walked into the gas station and the male suspect told him to, "Get out of here."
After the employee failed to open the third cash register, the male robber grabbed the cash register off the counter and the couple sprinted outside.
According to the gas station's owner, the suspects drove a Nissan, possibly a Nissan Altima, without plates.
Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call Los Angeles County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
