AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- An attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old boy that was reported Monday night was determined to be a fabricated story, Azusa Police said Wednesday.
An 11-year-old boy told police that an older, dark-colored van stopped in front of him as he was riding his bicycle home from Northview Park at about 9 p.m. Monday. The boy said a man got out and grabbed him, but the boy said he struggled with the man and escaped. A second unidentified man was driving the van, the boy told police.
The boy said the incident took place on the 300 block of N. San Gabriel Avenue.
"Through the investigation it was determined the incident did not take place as originally reported. Investigators are confident no attempted kidnapping occurred," police said in a statement Wednesday.
