BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- The driver of a runaway truck has died after the truck went barreling down Loma Vista Drive and slammed into an unoccupied parked car in Beverly Hills on Friday.

According to Beverly Hills police, the driver was unable to stop the truck at the time of the crash, which occurred at about 8:18 a.m. in the 800 block of Loma Vista Drive near Doheny Road.

The driver was trapped in the wreckage for a time before he was pulled out and taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he died. No other people were injured in the incident.

The site of the crash was the same stretch of road where a dump truck collided with a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser on March 7, 2014, killing Officer Nicholas Lee and injuring his partner.

On May 9 of the same year, off-duty LAPD Detective Ernest Allen was killed when a concrete mixer collided with his vehicle on the same street.
