Beach Boys' Brian Wilson returns to high school, secures 'A' on failed assignment

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KABC) -- Wouldn't it be nice if you could go back to high school and bump up your grades? The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson did just that.

He recently got around to returning to his alma mater -- Hawthorne High School -- where he got an "F" on a piece of homework from 1959.

That homework assignment turned out to be a composition of "Surfin'!"

Two years later, "Surfin'" became the Beach Boys' first million-dollar hit, and nearly six decades on, that "F" is now an "A."
