CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two men died and a 21-year-old man was arrested after a violent hit-and-run crash in Chatsworth Friday night.
A red truck and a black truck collided shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of De Soto Avenue and Chatsworth Street, authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department said. Police said the driver of the black truck blew through a red light.
The red truck rolled onto the sidewalk and two people inside were killed. The victims were identified as brothers Ernesto Chinchillas-Castro, 42, and Hector Chinchillas-Castro, 44, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
A man and woman in the black truck were taken into custody after running from the scene without rendering aid. Authorities identified the driver as Dylan Rutherford, 21, and arrested him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
A woman who witnessed the crash said she saw the truck that caused the wreck before the crash. She said the person was driving recklessly and she knew it was bound to crash.
Roses were left in honor of the victims at the intersection.
The investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
