Firefighters get handle on structure fire at vacant building in Compton
Firefighters were battling a structure fire at a vacant building in Compton Friday morning.

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Firefighters were battling a structure fire at a vacant building in Compton Friday morning.

Crews responded to the structure fire in the 1100 block of E. Rosecrans Avenue shortly after 4 a.m.

Black smoke and stubborn flames were seen through the roof of the building, which apparently used to house a business called Jasper Income Tax.

Neighbors at an apartment building next door were evacuated as a precaution as fire crews got a handle of the blaze, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
