Sylvester Stallone is still a winner in the eyes of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Stallone had received critical acclaim for his reprisal of the classic underdog boxer Rocky Balboa in Creed, with Hollywood insiders believing this would be the year that the action star would finally win an Oscar. But Stallone didn't end up winning the Best Supporting Actor award, which went to Bridge of Spies' Mark Rylance instead.
After Stallone's loss, Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted a heartfelt message to his friend and co-star from The Expendables films, saying "you were the winner. I'm proud of you."
Schwarzenegger's video was retweeted over 26,000 times, with others commenting and sharing their love for Sly Stallone.
Both Stallone and Schwarzenegger were two of the biggest box office draws in the 1980s - Stallone for the Rambo and Rocky franchises and Schwarzenegger for Predator and The Terminator. Aside from his Best Supporting Actor nomination this year, Stallone has been nominated for Oscars only two other times: Best Actor and Best Screenplay for the first Rocky film, which won Best Picture in 1977.
