Crenshaw's Robert Garrett receives Coach of the Year award
Crenshaw High School's football coach has been named the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year.

CRENSHAW, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Crenshaw High School's football coach has been named as the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year.



Robert Garrett's Crenshaw Cougars won last year's CIF Division 4-AA state championship.



Along with bragging rights, Garrett will receive $25,000 from the NFL Foundation, $15,000 of which will go to Crenshaw High School's football program.



Garrett, who was nominated for the award by the Los Angeles Chargers, has been coaching at the school for 25 years.



Asked what he enjoys most about coaching, he replied: "Helping youngsters to become better men."
