DMV outage still causing problems for sevral California offices

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- The Department of Motor Vehicles is continuing to experience computer problems, which are affecting locations across California on Wednesday.

The department said everything was supposed to be back to normal by Wednesday - but that's not the case.

The DMV offices in El Monte, West Covina and Glendale remained down, and workers told people to come back in the next few days. The Stanton DMV was also closed on Tuesday.

This all started on Monday after a major computer glitch. Drivers are not able to renew their licenses or register cars.

All offices are still able to provide driving tests, help customers with paperwork, answer questions and reschedule appointments.

The DMV website was not affected, so online services are still available.

When will the DMV offices be back online? That's anyone's guess right now. The DMV is saying they're working around the clock to fix the problem and get all of their offices up and running.

Customers can check www.dmv.ca.gov to see if their local office is still experiencing issues or call (800) 777-0133.

Also, certain Automobile Club of Southern California locations have the ability to process DMV transactions, though in a limited capacity due to the outage. To check participating locations, you can visit www.calif.aaa.com.
