'Full House' Reboot: DJ Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler to star in 'Fuller House'

John Stamos made the news official on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night and finally revealed details of the show, which will center around Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler).

"It starts sort of as a reunion and then spins off into this, like a spin-off," Stamos said.

He explained that D.J. will now play the role of the widowed parent to three children -- all boys -- and Kimmy and Stephanie will move in to help raise the kids. The first episode will have even more familiar faces, though, as the iconic house will be passed on to the next generation.

"We're gonna try to get everybody in the first [episode]," Stamos explained.

The stars took to social media to express their excitement, with Barber posting that her character's neon tights are "out of retirement."

Though D.J., Stephanie, Kimmy and Uncle Jesse will officially appear, the rest of the cast is still in talks, ABC News reports. Netflix will produce the show, which will premiere in 2016.

The name, of course, is Fuller House.

Stamos told Kimmel that everyone involved in the show has worked hard to satisfy fans of the ABC sitcom, which aired from 1987 to 1995.

"It's a labor of love," he said. "We've been literally trying for so many years to do it right, and I think we finally got it perfect."
