'Shawshank Redemption' cast reunites for 20th anniversary
The cast of 'The Shawshank Redemption' reunited Tuesday to celebrate the movie's 20th anniversary.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The cast of "The Shawshank Redemption" reunited Tuesday to celebrate the movie's 20th anniversary.

"It's one of the few movies that holds on to hope and dares to head toward a happy ending," actor Tim Robbins said.

While the film did not win any Oscars, it was nominated for seven and loved all around the world.

"The U.K. actually voted it one of the top 10 movies of all time and I think that it probably is in a lot of vaults," actor Morgan Freeman said.

Frank Darabont, the film's director and screenwriter, knows the impact this movie has had on his career.

"Let's face it, when I'm dead, you know, it's going to be, 'Frank - The Shawshank Redemption - Darabont kicked off today,'" Darabont said. "If I make the papers at all, that's what it's going to say."

For the cast and crew of "Shawshank," the movie's had a lasting impression.

"It might be the most beautiful love story about the friendship between two men. I think it might be the most beautiful script that's ever been written in the history of cinema," Gil Bellows said.

After all these years, Freeman and Robbins remained friends, right?

"No! I can't stand the guy! Tall, good-looking, successful and he's meddlesome. Look at what he's doing right now!" Freeman said as Robbins walks up to listen to Freeman's interview with Eyewitness News.

"I can't stand him either," Robbins said.

"See? See?" Freeman said.

"We have a real problem with each other. We're still trying to work it out," Robbins said.

"Been that way since day one!" Freeman said.
