SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man accused of stabbing two people in a quiet Sherman Oaks neighborhood was arrested Friday evening.
Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at about 6:40 p.m. to the 15000 block of Dickens Street. A man was found stabbed and later died of his injuries. A second victim was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.
The suspect turned himself in to police. A fourth person was not injured, but was detained and not cooperating with officers.
A pellet gun was recovered at the scene.
None of the people involved in the stabbing lived in the apartment complex, where the incident occurred.
"We're trying to figure out why are they here and what happened between them?" LAPD Lt. Jim Gavin said.
Neighbors said it was unusual to see such a violent crime in the area.
"For this area, it's really scary. This is a peaceful community here. This stuff doesn't happen here," resident Norman Vance said.
