Fire rips through Bel-Air mansion

BEL-AIR, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A mansion in Bel-Air was fully involved in fire and two firefighters were injured battling the blaze.

The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the 10800 block of West Bellagio Road. Flames were pouring out of the top of the two-story, 7,500 square-foot home.

"I'm very upset right now. I'm very concerned for my neighbor, his house, our community. It's terrible It's been really tough," Rodney Emrani said.

More than 100 firefighters were involved in fighting the flames and two suffered non-life-threatening burn injuries. At one point firefighters were seen moving back from the home out of concern the structure was going to collapse.

Firefighters said because the home was built in the 1950s, the blaze moved through the attic quickly.

One neighbor caught the chaos on video from their own residence.

Residents of the home, including the homeowner, children and a nanny were alerted by a smoke alarm and evacuated unharmed, firefighters said.

A knockdown was declared around 8:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
