A search and rescue team with the Orange County Sheriff's Department searched for a man in his 60s who fell off a pontoon boat Saturday afternoon while fishing with a friend at Irvine Lake in Silverado.

SILVERADO, Calif. (KABC) -- Rescue personnel searched for 60-year-old man who fell off a pontoon boat Saturday afternoon while fishing with a friend at Irvine Lake in Silverado.

Authorities received a call around 5:53 p.m. The man's friend told rescue team members that he heard a splash at the back of the boat and saw the man in the water.

He attempted to help his friend out, but was pulled into the lake. The friend was able to grab the boat's anchor line, but the man who fell ended up underwater.

Neither man was wearing a life jacket and are not good swimmers, authorities said.

A dive team was called in and the man was last seen in about 15 feet of water. The search continued into the night and divers dealt with difficult conditions, including murky water.

Divers plan to continue their search until the man's body is found.
