Dunkin' Donuts unveils holiday cup design

Dunkin' Donuts is getting ready for the holiday season with a new cup design.

The white Styrofoam cup has a green and red holiday design and says "joy" in red letters.

Some on social media immediately began to question the timing of the release, asking if the donut chain's "Joy" design is a jab at Starbucks' plain red holiday cup.

Dunkin's answer? No.

"For many years Dunkin' Donuts has served coffee in festive cups featuring the word 'joy' as part of our annual celebration of the season and holiday offerings," Dunkin' said in a statement to CNN Money. "We believe this conveys the happiness and spirit of the holiday season in a way that resonates with our guests."
