ALTADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Summer is in full swing at Loma Alta Park in Altadena, where kids of all ages are enjoying the recreation services being offered.
Recreation service supervisor Penny Daniels says they have a free program for young kids called Tiny Tots. There's also an L.A. Kids program for ages 5 to 18 that teaches sports such as soccer and basketball.
Other freebies include open swimming, cooking classes and gardening lessons. Offered until Aug. 8, the kids are eligible for a free lunch program funded by the USDA. Kids ages 1 through 18 can have tasty meals that are under USDA guidelines.
The park opens from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are also activities for adults, including jazz classes or line dancing. Classes like Zumba and Bokwa for adults are just $5.
"We know the entire family, not just the child. We know mom and dad and grandma and grandpa," said Melize Hernandez with Loma Alta Parks and Recreation.
Loma Alta is just one of Los Angeles County's 174 parks. Depending on the location, you'll find a host of amenities and programs for the community to take advantage of for free or for very little cost.
