GARDENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A driver wanted on suspicion of reckless driving was taken into custody after crashing into a vehicle in Gardena Monday night.

The pursuit began in the Florence area of Los Angeles following a report of a reckless driver near Nadeau Street and Crockett Boulevard.

The suspect ran numerous red lights and crashed his burgundy Ford van into an SUV near Budlong and Rosecrans avenues in Gardena at about 9:30 p.m. He crashed through a brick wall and also took out a wrought iron gate.

A female motorist traveling in the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons after her SUV careened across several lanes of traffic and jumped a curb.

Deputies quickly swarmed the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. He was placed in the back of a patrol car and is set to face numerous charges, including driving under the influence.
