Gas drops to $2.25 per gallon in Inland Empire

GRAND TERRACE, Calif. (KABC) -- Many motorists had to do a double-take after reading gas prices of $2.25 per gallon in Southern California on Wednesday.

Prices of $2.25 per gallon at Five-Point Auto Service in Grand Terrace was quite remarkable, seeing that one year ago the average price in the Inland Empire around the same time was $3.76 per gallon.

The Automobile Club of Southern California said a glut in production is to thank for the low prices.

"Refiners really built up their stocks, and even though we've had increased demand, we have a lot of gas right now," Jeffrey Springs with Automobile Club of Southern California explained.
