MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KABC) -- GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare is recalling all Alli weight-loss products from U.S. and Puerto Rico retailers because it believes some packages may contain tampered pills.
The company received reports from customers that tablets and capsules in bottles of Alli were not authentic and came in various shapes and colors. Some bottles in the outer carton were also missing labels and carried fake tamper-evident seals.
The states where tampered product was reported included Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina and Texas.
"Safety is our first priority and we are asking retailers and pharmacies to remove all Alli from their shelves immediately," said Colin Mackenzie, president of consumer healthcare in North America.
Below are some bottles that may have been tampered with:
Authentic Alli is a turquoise blue capsule with a dark blue band. It comes in a labeled bottle that has an inner foil seal imprinted with the words: "Sealed for your Protection." The same lot and expiration date codes should be printed on both the bottle label and the outer carton.
