Man killed in deputy-involved shooting in Hemet

HEMET, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was killed in a deputy-involved shooting after refusing to stop and surrender in Hemet Wednesday.

Authorities said the shooting occurred around 5 p.m. at Cawston and Acacia avenue. The suspect was in a Ford F-150 as Riverside County sheriff's deputies surrounded the vehicle.

It's not clear what led up to the shooting

A SWAT team was called in and a robot cleared the truck to make sure nothing was inside.

No deputies were injured. An investigation was underway.
