Unattended backpack leads to evacuations in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Multiple businesses in Hollywood were evacuated on Wednesday morning after an unattended backpack was found in a parking lot, police said.

The discovery was made in the 8000 block of Sunset Boulevard shortly before 8 a.m.

Sunset Boulevard was closed between N. Crescent Heights and Laurel Canyon boulevards, and a bomb squad with the Los Angeles Police Department was called to the scene.

The evacuation was called off shortly before noon when a bomb squad found no explosives in the backpack.
