LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- It was an emotional day in Long Beach at a ceremony honoring the late dearly loved singer Jenni Rivera.

Rivera's family helped dedicate the park, named after the singer.

The Long Beach native, with six others, died in a plane crash in Mexico on Dec. 9, 2012. The Latin Grammy winner left behind five children.

It was her kids who took center stage as they unveiled the mural that chronicles their mother's life in Long Beach.

"I think she's happy. I think that this is something that we had spoken about for so many years when she was here physically, and she had all these dreams and all these aspirations, and now to see them become a reality," said daughter Chiqui Rivera.

Fans came from as far away as El Paso, Texas, to be at the park for the dedication.
