WEST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities are searching for a suspect or suspects who broke into a West Los Angeles jewelry store, stole items out of a broken window and led police on a short chase.

A call came in around 11:20 p.m. Sunday about reports of a person breaking into a jewelry store in the 2300 block of Westwood Boulevard. A window was smashed, and the suspect was seen removing items from that broken window where a display case was.

When officers arrived, the suspect took off in a white SUV. A short chase ensued, but authorities eventually lost the vehicle and it was later found abandoned.

A description of the suspect or suspects involved was not available.

Police were able to recover some of the items stolen from the broken window.

The investigation was ongoing.
