JoJo Fletcher talks emotional ride on 'The Bachelorette'

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- JoJo Fletcher wears her heart on her sleeve in this latest quest for love, and she'll spend the summer riding the emotional rollercoaster that's come to be a trademark of the long-running show "The Bachelorette."

"I loaded up on the waterproof mascara before I came into this season, but I needed more of it by the end. It was waterworks," she said, smiling.

Starting Monday, many saw Fletcher start to get to know the remaining 20 guys a little bit better. And given her previous experience on last season's "The Bachelor," Fletcher's become a pro at first dates.

"These first conversations, you're going straight for the deep stuff. You skip what's your favorite color, you skip what's your favorite movie, but you learn how to pick up on people and your intuition really plays a big role. Just how you pick up on those vibes, you can tell if they're a good person or a dishonest person. I think my little radar has gotten better," she explained.

"I was actually really surprised by some of the guys who really put themselves out there right off the bat," she continued. "It didn't scare me away, it actually made me want to open myself up to them."

As many saw on Monday, one guy clearly tried to put himself in the front-runner position by monopolizing Fletcher's time.

The suitors were not happy to face the wrath of Chad, a real-estate agent from Oklahoma.

"I was faced with so many tough situations this season, just one after the other it seems like," Fletcher said. "And I learned, I think, how to handle those, and I think people will see that, and I think I definitely grew a lot this season."
