Potato salad Kickstarter ends, earns man $55,492

Remember that potato salad Kickstarter that everyone was talking about last month? Well the fundraiser is now officially over.

The Kickstarter's originator says he ended up collecting a grand total of $55,492. He only wanted to collect $10, meaning he surpassed his goal by $55,482.

So what does he plan to do with all the extra cash? The man says he'll put the unexpected amount of money towards "Potato Stock 2014." It's a festival he's hosting to feed his hungry backers.

He says he'll donate the rest of the cash to an Ohio-based foundation with the goal of ending hunger and homelessness.
