LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- If you're planning to stay in town over Labor Day weekend, here are some fun ideas for a staycation around the Los Angeles area.

Spend the afternoon at Echo Park Lake

Echo Park Lake reopened last year after two years of renovations, and if you haven't stopped by yet, it's a must do. Go for a walk around the lake, picnic on the grass or ride the pedal boats. Plus, free WiFi is now available, so you'll be able to quickly Tweet, Instagram and Facebook your fun day. The facility is open 9 a.m. to a half hour before sunset, seven days a week.

For more information on pedal boating, visit http://www.laparks.org/dos/aquatic/facility/echoParkPaddle.htm.

Go to a baseball game

Dodgers face the Washington Nationals at Dodger Stadium on Monday, Sept. 1 at 5:10 p.m.

Angels face the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 31 at 12:35 p.m.

Two-hour lessons are normally $90 a person, but mention ABC7, and it's $50 each for groups of 2-4, or $40 each for groups of 5 or more.
