LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- California primary election results are coming in, and early returns are showing a competitive race for the Los Angeles mayoral election and the California governor's race.

In the L.A. mayor's race, Karen Bass continued to hold a lead in the mayoral race with 35% of the vote, while Nithya Raman overtook Spencer Pratt for second place, according to the latest figures.

In the California governor's race, Xavier Becerra advanced to the general election. It was not yet clear who Becerra would face in the general election. His top rivals came down to Republican Steve Hilton, a former Fox News commentator backed by President Donald Trump, and Democrat Tom Steyer, a billionaire climate activist who poured $215 million of his own money into his campaign.

In a new batch of results, Nithya Raman overtook Spencer Pratt by only a few thousand votes, putting her in second place in the L.A. mayor race.

In a new batch of election results released on Sunday, Nithya Raman overtook Spencer Pratt by only a few thousand votes, putting her in second place in the Los Angeles mayoral election.

Pratt had held onto second place since election night on Tuesday, but Raman slowly began closing the gap as more results were tallied. On Saturday evening, there was only a 1% gap between the two candidates, with Pratt still in second place.

In the latest results, with 83% of the expected votes counted, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass is still leading the pack with 34.7% of the votes. Raman is in second place with 27.1% of the vote, and Pratt is trailing right behind her with 26.7% of the vote.

Approximately 50,000 votes were added in Sunday's batch of election results, and only about 3,000 votes separate Raman and Pratt.

ABC News projected Bass would advance to the November runoff on election night. ABC News has not yet projected who Bass' opponent will be in the November election.

Becerra continues to lead race for CA governor in latest election results

A new batch of votes was counted on Saturday evening, showing Democrat Xavier Becerra is still in the lead in the race for California governor.

In the latest totals, with approximately 71% of the expected votes counted, Becerra had 27% of the vote. Republican Steve Hilton was right behind him with 26% of the vote, followed by Democrat Tom Steyer in third place with 21% of the vote.

Previously, Hilton was in the lead, but when more election results came in on Saturday, Becerra rose to first place, and AP News projected he would advance to the November election.

As of Saturday, there is about a 64,000-vote difference between Becerra and Hilton.

It is still undecided which additional candidate will advance.

A new batch of election results was released early Saturday evening, revealing an even tighter gap between Los Angeles mayoral candidates Nithya Raman and Spencer Pratt.

In the latest results, with 78% of the expected votes counted, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass is still leading the pack with 35% of the votes. Pratt is in second place with 27% of the vote, and Raman is trailing right behind him with 26% of the vote.

Approximately 60,000 votes were added in Saturday's batch of election results, and about 7,500 votes separate Pratt and Raman.

On election night, there was about a 10% gap between Pratt and Raman, but as more results have come in throughout the week, the gap has shrunk. On Friday evening, there was about a 3% gap between the two candidates.

ABC News projected Bass would advance to the November runoff on election night. ABC News has not yet projected who Bass' opponent will be in the November election.

On election night, there was about a 10% gap between Pratt and Raman, but as more results have come in throughout the week, the gap has shrunk. As of Friday evening, there is a less than 4% gap between the two candidates.
