Communities across Southern California are cleaning up after several days of showers across the region.

Evacuation warnings were in place for neighborhoods across Los Angeles County, primarily in areas surrounding recent burn scars -- including in Altadena around the Eaton Fire burn scar.

While rain is still falling in some areas, rain chances are finally moving east, with heavier cells expected to die down by Sunday night.

A chance for scattered showers is in the forecast on Monday morning, with rain chances sticking around through the afternoon.

From there, another storm system that we were tracking is now predicted to stay offshore, so the sun should come out by Tuesday or Wednesday. Most areas see a maximum of a 20% chance of rain on Tuesday, followed by a rain-free week.

The 101 Freeway is closed in both directions near Goleta in Santa Barbara County Saturday morning for an unknown duration after a series of mudslides left debris scattered across the road.

Crews were on site working to clear the roads but there was no estimate on when it would reopen, according to Caltrans Central Coast.

Drivers were asked to use SR-154 as an alternate road, the California Highway Patrol said in a post on X.

Residents of Wrightwood and Altadena brace for new storm amid cleanup from recent downpours

Residents in San Bernardino County and the Eaton Fire burn scar area braced for a weekend rainstorm as cleanup operations continued Friday in the aftermath of recent downpours.

In Wrightwood, crews worked to remove mud and debris that buried parts of the mountain town amid last week's deluge.

Local businesses such as Recharge Cafe were taking a major hit to their bottom line during the holiday season.

Residents in Wrightwood and Altadena braced for a new rainstorm as cleanup operations continued in the aftermath of recent downpours.

"Dealing with the power outage and everything, we weren't able to open up," said Manuel Morale, the cafe's owner. "Because of that, customers can't come in but we can still sell online, but it's kind of hard to ship when the whole town shuts down."

In Altadena, a deluge on Thursday sent a veritable river of mud flowing down a fire-scarred hillside -- adding even more anxiety for traumatized residents.

"They are on a hill, so we'll just keep on checking to make sure because everything around them is flat," said South Pasadena resident Claire Norman. "So yeah, there's high potential for more damage but so far so good."

Stretch of Topanga Canyon closes again ahead of more rain

With more rain and possible debris flows coming, Caltrans is closing a 3.6-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard once again.

With more rain and possible debris flows coming, Caltrans is closing Topanga Canyon Boulevard once again.

The agency is closing the 3.6-mile stretch of the road between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive at midnight.

That part of the road has closed several times already during the recent series of storms.

Caltrans is worried about people driving through possible debris flows during the storms.

The road had just reopened at 5 a.m. on Friday following the previous storm. It ended up being open for less than 24 hours.

Caltrans said crews will monitor and reassess road conditions daily, as long as it is safe to do so, and will share updates on road reopening via news releases and social media when they are available.
