Pomona murder suspect fatally shoots self, police say

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A murder suspect shot and killed himself when officers tried to arrest him in Pomona, police said.

Police said the suspect was spotted leaving a home on the 1500 block of San Bernardino Avenue around 9 p.m. Friday.

Officers said they tried to arrest him, but he ran towards a back yard and shot himself in the head.

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.

The suspect was wanted for a shooting that left a woman dead earlier this week.
