MOORPARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Moorpark Police determined a woman who reported a sexual assault during a burglary at her residence had fabricated the story.
The unidentified woman called 911 on April 16. She said she returned home on the 4700 block of Elderberry Avenue and interrupted a burglary in progress by two suspects, who she said then held her against her will and sexually assaulted her, according to police.
Moorpark Police and the Ventura County Sheriff's Department investigated the incident and found several discrepancies between the victim's statement and collected evidence.
The woman was repeatedly contacted, police said, and admitted this week to fabricating the story. She told police she made up the story due to difficulties she was experiencing in her personal life.
