LADERA RANCH, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was taken to the hospital following a deputy-involved shooting in Ladera Ranch Sunday night.

Deputies responded to a disturbance call at an upscale condominium near Sansovino and Vecchio around 10:30 p.m. after neighbors said they heard a couple fighting.

Deputies made contact with a 29-year-old man, later identified as Shaun Bradley Paquette, inside a unit at the complex. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remains unclear.

Investigators say things somehow escalated and deputies opened fire, striking the suspect. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No deputies were injured.

Residents say they heard three gunshots.

Paquette was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, battery against a spouse and child endangerment charges. He was booked into Orange County Jail and held on $100,000 bail.

The shooting remains under investigation.
