MONROVIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Several cars were damaged during a carport fire behind a Monrovia apartment building Saturday morning.
The fire began at about 8:30 a.m. in the 800 block of West Duarte Road inside a detached carport. Residents of the apartment building were evacuated.
Firefighters contained the fire to the vehicles and carport. Six vehicles were damaged. No injuries were reported.
Monrovia firefighters believe the fire was accidental. Surveillance cameras showed an SUV caught fire shortly after the owner pulled into the carport.
Damages were estimated to be about $200,000.
