Hundreds arrested during 3-day electronic music festival in Devore

DEVORE, Calif. (KABC) -- More than 400 people were arrested and two people were transported to a hospital over the three-day weekend as thousands descended on Devore for a popular electronic music festival, authorities announce Monday.

The Nocturnal Wonderland concert, which began Friday, attracted fans to the San Manuel Amphitheater in droves. By 2 a.m. Monday, 428 had been arrested on various drug- and alcohol-related charges, and on suspicion of trespassing, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

On Sunday, the festival was attended by 25,762 people, the department said in a news release. Attendees were searched and had their identification examined as they began entering the venue at 4 p.m.

Authorities arrested 141 people who were trying to enter the concert grounds, for alleged drug possession, drug sales, assault and battery, resisting arrest, and being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the statement said.

One suspect was arrested on a charge of indecent exposure, while another suffered trauma to his face from an assault and was taken to a hospital.

The amphitheater was monitored by law enforcement officers, both uniformed and undercover, some of whom were accompanied by K-9 units, according to the sheriff's department.

Additional officers, paid by Insomniac, the festival's promoter, were assigned to patrol the nearby areas of Devore and Rosena Ranch, where measures were put in place to minimize traffic from the venue.

A deputy and a sound engineer responded to Crestline after two reports of loud music, and determined that the noise level was within the county noise ordinance, the news release said.
