DEVORE, Calif. (KABC) -- An Ontario man on active parole was arrested in Devore on suspicion of arson after authorities found gas, torches and lighter fluid inside his car.
Around 9:23 a.m. Saturday, Union Pacific Railroad Police contacted a man sitting inside a parked car because he had trespassed onto the railroad property. The officer spoke with the man and found out he was an arson registrant and on active parole.
The officer contacted the sheriff's department and a deputy came out to conduct a search of the man's car. During the search, authorities found a 5-gallon can of gas, large butane torches, lighter fluid and new cigarette lighters under the driver's seat. It appeared the items were ready for use.
The man, identified as 61-year-old Larry Missirilian, had parked about 10 feet from a large dry area that had not been burned by the Blue Cut Fire.
Authorities arrested Missirilian on suspicion of arson and violating his arson and parole terms. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
