OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- A 39-year-old mother of two vanished on her way to meet her boss in Santa Monica.
Dawn Marie Vadbunker's adopted parents last saw her on July 3, when she left their Oxnard home and headed to Santa Monica, where she works as a personal assistant.
She texted her parents saying she was going to stay for a couple of days, which isn't unusual since Vadbunker works Monday through Wednesday.
When Vadbunker didn't return home Wednesday night and they couldn't reach her, her family knew something was wrong.
"She is very, very close to us and (a) very good daughter. She would never even go three to four hours without calling," her mother Laura Vadbunker said.
Vadbunker's cellphone goes straight to voicemail and her social media accounts have not seen any activity. Her family hasn't been able to reach her boss.
"We're not letting our minds go to the terrible worst things. We're not prepared to visit that at all, but we live in the real world and we're scared to death," her father Dave Vadbunker said.
Her parents have reported her missing under suspicious circumstances with Oxnard police.
Vadbunker drives a sliver 2007 Dodge Nitro with California license plate 5YGB296.
