LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (KABC) -- The Pasadena Showcase House of Design is one of the oldest, biggest and most successful home and garden tours in the country. The 2016 showcase features the Dryborough Estate.

More than 30 designers have decorated all but 3,000 of the estate's 18,000 square feet.

Over its 52 years, the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has raised over $20 million for Los Angeles County music and arts programs, not to mention giving anyone with a notion for decor an eye-dazzling visit through top notch interior and exterior design.

"Each room is slightly different, although we try to maintain the palette and the coordination from one designer to the next. But we do want to appeal to everyone," said Marilyn Anderson with the Pasadena Showcase House.

The La Canada Flintridge estate was built in 1918 for a wealthy East Coast restaurateur, who died before he could move into it. But it has been well-cared for by subsequent owners.

The designer of the music room paid careful attention to the details already here.

"We take our clues from the architectural details of the room, because we feel like that will give us the best design," said Greg Parker with Parker West Interiors.

Although there is a set palette of colors, designers have more opportunity to showcase their vision than if they were working with a client.

"There is definitely more flexibility, so we have a little more free rein to do, basically, inject our own personality into the space," said Robert Frank with Robert Frank Design.

In the new master bedroom, the designers combined two suites to make one, complete with a man's restroom, a woman's bath and a dressing area.

"We wanted to do something that felt fairly expansive and to the scale of the house, while really keeping the historic characters," said Samantha Williams with Ederra Design Studio.

Tours for the Pasadena Showcase House run from April 17 through May 15. Visitors take shuttles from the Rose Bowl. For ticketing information, visit www.pasadenashowcase.org.
