3rd suspect arrested in Pico Rivera stabbing murder

PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- A third suspect in a Pico Rivera stabbing murder turned himself in Sunday afternoon after the victim's son and another person were arrested.

Sergio Gutierrez, 50, was fatally stabbed at 1:35 a.m. Saturday at his residence on the 3700 block of Oaklawn Lane. His 17-year-old son and an 18-year-old accomplice were both arrested Sunday for the murder.

A third suspect, an unidentified Hispanic juvenile, surrendered at the L.A. County Sheriff's Pico Rivera station Sunday afternoon, the department said. He was arrested for murder and held without bail.

Sergio Gutierrez Jr., 17, was named as a person of interest in the incident. He was later named a suspect and was arrested. Jesus Adame, 18, was also arrested for the murder.

Saturday morning's break-in at the residence in a gated community was first reported as a home-invasion robbery, but sheriff's officials were later unsure if a robbery had occurred. It was unclear if anything was taken from the home.

Gutierrez, his wife and Gutierrez Jr. were all home at the time of the stabbing. Gutierrez Jr. took off in the family's car following the violence, authorities said. The car was described as a silver 2000 Infiniti with California license plate 4MAB667.

Gutierrez Sr. was found sustained several stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Authorities said they have been called to the home in the past for domestic issue involving the teen. Gutierrez Jr. has drug problems, according to neighbors.
