An Amber Alert for two missing girls has been canceled after their father turned himself in to police early Saturday.
POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who prompted an Amber Alert, after allegedly abducting his two young daughters in Pomona, was arrested early Saturday morning.
Pete Valencia Adame, 43, of Riverside was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol near the 15 Freeway and Magnolia Boulevard off-ramp in Corona.
CHP says Adam called 911 after he learned that he was wanted by the Pomona Police Department. The CHP responded to his location and found the children unharmed. They were returned to their mother.
Adame is facing kidnapping and child abduction charges.
According to Pomona police, Adame, abducted his ex-girlfriend and his two biological daughters at gunpoint around 7 p.m. Friday from Kennedy Park. He released his girlfriend, 28-year-old Tanya Chaidez, and their unidentified five-year-old at an unknown location hours later but then fled with the two girls, 4-year-old Aurora Akira Adame and 2-year-old Valarie Persaea Adame.
Aurora has brown hair and brown eyes, stands approximately 2 and a half feet tall, weighs 35 pounds, and was last seen wearing a pink shirt with a heart and cheetah print spandex pants.
Valarie has brown hair and brown eyes, stands approximately 2 feet tall, weighs 30 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white shirt with flowers on the shoulders and black pants.
The suspect has black hair and brown eyes, stands approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white undershirt and light blue pants with a light blue stripe.
Adame was said to be possibly driving a 2014 gray Jeep Patriot with the California license plate number 7CJF267. Police considered him possibly armed and dangerous.
As of Saturday, the girls were safe, and Valencia was in jail.
