In Your Community: Yaamava' Theater to host Pow Wow exhibition

HIGHLAND, Calif. (KABC) -- Before one of Southern California's biggest Native American celebrations, Yaamava' Theater will welcome dancers from this year's San Manuel Pow Wow for a special exhibition.

The theater will host two free performances on Monday, Sept. 8 at noon and 3 p.m., featuring dancers from across North America and Canada.

Since 1996, the San Manuel Pow Wow has brought the sights, sounds and spirit of Indian Country to the Golden State.

The celebration of indigenous cultures gathers traditional bird singers and dancers, as well as drum groups, artisans and other performers representing Indian tribal nations from across the country.

Yaamava' Theater will stage two hour-long previews of Pow Wow Weekend, exploring the origins and interpretations of the art of dancing, drumming, bird song tradition and regalia.

Seating is limited to audience members ages 21 and up.

Cal State University San Bernardino will host the 2025 San Manuel Pow Wow from Sept. 19-21.

Yaamava' Casino & Resort is located at 777 San Manuel Blvd., in Highland.
