REDLANDS, Calif. (KABC) -- For three decades, one golf tournament has been changing the lives of children in need in San Bernardino County.
Now, 144 golfers are wanted in Redlands this summer to bring safety and security to some of the most vulnerable among us.
The 33rd Children's Fund Golf Classic will take over Redlands Country Club on June 1, for a day of fun, food and prizes for a good cause.
"This is not a normal golf tournament," event chair Kristen Pierce said. "We make it really fun, and we focus on why we're there: to help the kids."

Proceeds from the tournament help Children's Fund serve youth who have experienced neglect, abuse or extreme poverty.
During an emergency, President Cesar Navarrete said his organization provides children with their basic needs, including food, clothing and a safe place to sleep.
Once stable, Children's Fund is able to provide additional access to programs that help them to thrive as they focus on a brighter future.
"We have the opportunity to really see the promise of our kids, helping them flourish," Navarrete said.
In addition to giving children access to youth sports and other recreational activities who otherwise couldn't afford it, Children's Fund also connects its students with scholarships to four junior colleges and two universities, Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.
"With this program, they engage in the community, but also improve their grades and engagement in school so they can graduate," Navarrete said. "The reason we want them to graduate is because it really helps break the cycle."
Registration is now open for twosomes, foursomes, hole sponsorship and auction donors for the June 1 event.
Participants will also have access to great snacks and games, and dinner to follow.
"Above all, it's a very high-end feeling. We give really good prizes!" Pierce said.
Redlands Country Club is at 1749 Garden St, in Redlands.
