SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Santa Monica restaurant owner is one of the thousands of people who lost their homes in the Palisades Fire.
Despite her loss, she is ready to welcome diners to her restaurant. Located on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, you'll find all you need to satisfy your stomach at the Courtyard Kitchen.
Mirela Gabor, the founder and general manager of the restaurant, is bringing great food to put people in a good mood.
The neighborhood restaurant has been bringing people together for more than a decade.
"Our community is amazing, we feel so supported," Gabor said.
The family-owned restaurant opened its doors in 2013, serving American classics and Mediterranean cuisine.
Patrons can now enjoy the recently renovated spot, which showcases a beautiful, sunny space with a mouthwatering brunch, lunch and dinner menu, as well as a new bar offering happy hour seven days a week. That communal gathering spot is part of the restaurant's appeal.
"A place where you can go and have your avocado toast and an espresso martini, and you can go have your amazing pizza and a ribeye," Gabor said. "We wanted to give people an option to have it all."
Smoked salmon toast, pink hummus and pita bread and Neapolitan-style pizza are some of the restaurant's must-haves.
Despite the good food and good vibes, business has been a challenge lately. Gabor lost her home in the Palisades Fire, and many of her customers were displaced.
"It's been absolutely devastating and terrible for so many people," Gabor said. "It's so shocking. I still can't believe it happened."
She says she's grateful to everyone in her community who continue to come in and enjoy a great meal.
"You do all this hard work but then when you kind of see it land with people and you see them happy and enjoying themselves, that's really what you're working for," Gabor said.
The Courtyard Kitchen is open seven days a week, closing only on Monday evenings.
